Asi Gonia is a mountainous village of the Municipality with a long history, a village of livestock farmers with approximately 700 inhabitants, and this number is constantly increasing. In Asi Gonia, Saint George Galatas is celebrated on April 23. It is the central church in the village square and on the day of the Saint's feast, the herdsmen bring the sheep down from the mountains to the church, milk them and distribute the milk to those present. Definitely a very unusual celebration.

Vamos is the historical seat of the Municipality of Apokoronos and according to the 2011 census it has 706 inhabitants. The village is built on a slope at an altitude of 190 meters and is 25 kilometers from Chania. According to oral tradition, Vamos was founded by Arab raiders from Andalusia who conquered Crete in the 8th century AD.

Georgioupoli is a coastal settlement located at the mouth of the Gulf of Almyros, next to the point where the river of the same name flows out. The first settlement in this area was built on the hill of Venus the Kefala, where the ancient city of Amphimalion or Amphimalla, port of ancient Lappa (today Argyroupoli) gradually developed.

It consists of Vryses, Maza, Alikabos, Embrosneros, Vafe and Nippos, mountainous and semi-mountainous villages at the base of the White Mountains. These villages are characterized by the hospitality of their inhabitants, the preservation of the Cretan tradition, while their main occupation is animal husbandry and agriculture. The W. section of Kryonerida occupies the central part of Apokoronou district and borders the Municipality of Sfakia from the south.

It consists of the municipal departments of Fre, Melidoni, Paidohori, Pemonia and Tzitzife. It is located at the foot of the White Mountains. The terrain is semi-mountainous, producing excellent oil, wine and excellent livestock products. There are 4 traditional cheese factories that use the milk of the area and produce excellent graviera, anthotyrus and mizithra. Two crafts with traditional furniture, and five olive oil mills give life to the place by preserving the tradition.
